Spitti
What is a Spitti?
A Spitti is a purebred Valais Blacknose sheep born with a rare reverse-colour pattern — a predominantly black fleece with white areas, rather than the usual white with black points. This colouring occurs naturally within the breed and is recognised internationally as a legitimate Valais variation.
Why They're Rare
Spittis appear in around 1 in 100 Valais Blacknose lambs, making them genuinely uncommon within the breed. Both parents must be purebred Valais Blacknose, and only lambs with a full reverse pattern are considered true Spittis.
Their scarcity, combined with their striking appearance, makes them highly sought after by lifestyle owners and fibre enthusiasts

Tradition & Character
In Switzerland, Spittis are traditionally seen as symbols of good luck. They carry the same gentle, friendly temperament the Valais breed is known for, but with a look that stands out instantly in any paddock.
Breeding Notes
Spitti ewes can be bred and typically produce normally marked lambs. Ewes can be registered in New Zealand but currently Spitti rams cannot.
Why They're Special
A Spitti offers all the charm of the Valais Blacknose with a rare, eye‑catching twist. Their limited numbers, cultural significance, and unique colouring make them a premium addition to any flock
